Card Security – Phishing

"LINDA’s got it!" – This is the slogan of the 2025 Card Security campaign, a police initiative on the subject of card security. Fisherwoman LINDA helps card users remember the most important rules of behaviour when handling debit and credit cards. Each letter of LINDA's name stands for a mnemonic that can be used to prevent phishing.

Card Security 2025 – Phishing

According to the Federal Statistical Office's crime statistics, phishing attacks increased by 56% in 2024. Card offences often begin with a phishing attack. In this scam, fraudsters contact potential victims via a text message or email, for example, and try to obtain personal data and card information by trickery. If you're not careful, you can lose a lot of money.

This can be avoided with LINDA: Each letter of her name stands for a mnemonic phrase that prevents card fraud.

#L = Links and attachments from people you don’t know must never be clicked on.
#I = Information contained in emails must be assessed critically.
#N = Neutral forms of address in messages raise your suspicions.
#D = Deadlines and urgency are suspicious.
#A = Address of the sender should always be checked carefully.
