Conditions for cash withdrawals

Swiss Bankers is changing the conditions for cash withdrawals nationally and internationally. The new rates apply to the card products Life, Life Digital, Travel and Prime. This page provides an overview of the new conditions.

Cash withdrawals in Switzerland

In Switzerland, you can withdraw cash with your Life / Life Digital / Travel or Prime card at the following conditions:

  • At ATMs: 2%, at least CHF/EUR/USD 2.- per withdrawal

Conditions before 1 October 2024: CHF/EUR/USD 5.- per withdrawal. Cards withdrawn in Germany are subject to different conditions.

Examples of cash withdrawals in Switzerland

Cash withdrawal of CHF 100.-:

  • New: CHF/EUR/USD 2.- per withdrawal
  • Previously: CHF/EUR/USD 5.- per withdrawal

Cash withdrawal of CHF 300.-:

  • New*: CHF/EUR/USD 6.-
  • Previously: CHF/EUR/USD 5.-

*In the new example, the 2% per cash withdrawal is applied as a fee because the minimum amount of CHF 2.- per withdrawal is exceeded.

Withdrawing cash abroad

You can withdraw cash abroad with your Life / Life Digital / Travel or Prime card at the following conditions:

  • At ATMs 2%, at least CHF/EUR/USD 7.50 per withdrawal

Conditions before 1 October 2024: CHF/EUR/USD 7.50 per withdrawal. Different conditions apply to cards obtained in Germany.

Examples of cash withdrawals abroad

Cash withdrawal of EUR 300.-:

  • New: CHF/EUR/USD 7.50 per withdrawal (unchanged)
  • Previously: CHF/EUR/USD 7.50 per withdrawal

Cash withdrawal of EUR 400.-:

  • New*: CHF/EUR/USD 8.-.
  • Previously: CHF/EUR/USD 7.50

In the new example, the 2% per cash withdrawal is applied as a fee because the minimum amount of CHF/EUR/USD 7.50 per withdrawal is exceeded.

You can withdraw cash nationally and internationally with your Life card at the following conditions:

  • At ATMs: 2%, at least CHF/EUR/USD 5.- per withdrawal

Questions and answers

Do I pay more for cash withdrawals now than I used to?

That depends on the amount and the location of the cash withdrawal:

Cash withdrawals in Switzerland:

  • You pay less than before for cash withdrawals of less than CHF 250.-.

Cash withdrawals abroad:

  • You pay the same as before for cash withdrawals of up to CHF 375.-.

For cards used in Germany:

Cash withdrawals nationally and internationally:

  • You pay the same as before for cash withdrawals of up to CHF 250.-.

When will the new conditions for cash withdrawals apply?

The new conditions for cash withdrawals will apply to the card products Life, Life Digital, Travel and Prime from 1 October 2024.

What has changed in the conditions compared to the past?

  • For cash withdrawals in Switzerland, you used to pay CHF/EUR/USD 5.- per withdrawal. Now you pay 2%, with a minimum of CHF/EUR/USD 2.-.

Why are the conditions for cash withdrawals being adjusted?

Swiss Bankers reviews market conditions at regular intervals and adjusts prices accordingly. These reviews are necessary to ensure that our services remain competitive and fair at all times. One important factor in these adjustments is the rate of inflation, which affects the costs of providing cash services.

Are the fees for cash withdrawals lower with other providers?

Providers of prepaid and credit cards typically charge 3.75% for a cash withdrawal (as of September 2024). Swiss Bankers offers a rate of 2%. This adjustment underscores our commitment to continue offering our customers highly attractive terms while taking market conditions and economic developments into account.

Do I have to add the minimum amounts to the percentage calculation?

No, the initial assumption for the calculation is 2%. If the fees per withdrawal are below the respective minimum amount (CHF/EUR/USD 2.– / 5.– / 7.50), the 2% percentage rate is not applied and only the minimum amount is charged.
