Swiss driver's license accepted for car rentals if obtained at least 1 year previously, varies by rental company.
Minimum age for car rentals: 21 (varies by rental company).
CH sticker, breakdown triangle, first-aid kit and spare headlight bulds mandatory.
Headlights must be on even during the day.
Blood alcohol limit: 0.5 ‰.
Vaccination against diphtheria, tetanus, polio and measles recommended.
Security
Land mines: The immediate coastal region is considered safe.
However, some mine fields that are not always clearly marked may be found in the country's interior in the former war zones (1991-1995).
Most affected are Slavonia as well as the backcountry between Zadar and Split (former Krajina).
Do not leave marked roads or pathways.

Special legal regulations

Passport still valid after end of stay or valid ID card, return or onward travel ticket and proof of sufficient funds (at least EUR 100.00 per day) for stays up to 3 months.
