Travelers Cheques

Swiss Bankers and American Express Travelers Cheques are available in 6 currencies: US dollars, Canadian dollars, Australian dollars, euros, British pounds and Japanese yen. They are available from nearly any Swiss bank, Swiss Post offices, major train stations (Swiss Federal Railways) and American Express Travel Service location.

Safer than cash. If lost or stolen, travelers cheques are replaced as a rule within 24 hours worldwide and at no cost.

Recommended exchange locations. Travelers cheques are recommended particularly for travel outside Europe. In Europe, several banks no longer accept travelers cheques. Travelers are strongly advised to consult Country Information prior to departure. Cash your checks in total safety. Travelers cheques are safe and easy to use. At the time of purchase you sign the cheques in the upper left corner. When you wish to cash a cheque, simply countersign and date at the window or check-out counter.

No expiration date. Travelers cheques do not expire. If you ave not used all your travelers cheques, you can use them on the next trip or keep them in reserve next time you need cash.

On November 1, 2009, Swiss Bankers Prepaid Services AG discontinued the sale of Swiss Bankers Travelers Cheques in Swiss francs (issued under license from American Express). Of course, Swiss Bankers Travelers Cheques already sold do not expire and will continue to be accepted at many locations worldwide. Fully guaranteed by Swiss Bankers Prepaid Services AG, cheques will be exchanged like before. If cheques are lost or stolen, they will continue to be replaced worldwide and at no charge.
